Electronic
Abstract Booklet (PDF format, 1.3Mb)
The abstract deadline has passed. Speakers and poster
presenters have been notified, and the presentation schedules
are presented elsewhere on this web site.
Instructions for oral presentations
The thirty-six invited symposium speakers (four per symposium) will have twenty-five
minutes to present their talk and five minutes for questions (thirty minutes
total). The remaining seventy-two symposium speakers (eight per symposium), chosen
from among the submitted abstracts, will have twelve minutes to present their
talk and three minutes for questions (a total of fifteen minutes). The Fitch
Prize Symposium speakers, and the speakers in the Contributed Paper sessions,
will have twelve minutes to present their talk and three minutes for questions
(a total of fifteen minutes).
All three auditoria are equipped with computer LCD projection (preferred), overhead
projection, and 35 mm slide projection equipment. Please indicate the type of
presentation on the abstract submission form. For consistency, we urge presenters
to use computer projection (e.g., PowerPoint), if at all possible. Presentation
files may be deposited (uploaded) on this Web site beginning one month prior
to the meeting and up to the start of the meeting. This mechanism is preferred;
however, we suggest that presenters also bring a copy of the presentation file
to the meeting on a USB flash drive, zip disk, floppy disk, or CD-ROM as a backup.
Each auditorium will have a technology specialist who will have your presentation
file. However, please check in with that person at least several hours prior
to your talk (or on the day preceding it), to either make certain that the file
was received or to provide a new or updated file (or other presentation media).
NOTE: All speakers should plan to submit their talks (electronic
PowerPoint files) to our server (http://warta.bio.psu.edu/GE/) prior
to the meeting. We can receive files up until noon on June 17th. In
addition, we recommend that you bring an electronic copy of your presentation
on a USB memory flash disk (stick) or CD-ROM, as a backup. Last minute
changes on location will be possible, if necessary. Please visit the
Speaker Ready Room if you need to make changes to your file at the
meeting.
Instructions for poster presentations
Your poster should be no larger than 4' x 4' (1220 x 1220 mm). The poster boards
for mounting have cork backing, and supplies (pins, tacks) will be available
for mounting.
The room where the posters will be displayed is a large ballroom (Alumni Hall
in the Hetzel Union Building). It will be available for poster setup beginning
Friday, June 18, at 7:00 a.m. Posters may be set up at any time during that day.
Please do not bring posters to Alumni Hall before 7:00 a.m. on June 18 because
there is no place to store them. If you bring your poster from your hotel or
dormitory room, you should take it directly to the Alumni Hall for setup, because
there is no place at the meeting site (Thomas Building) to store posters."
