The 2016 SMBE election results are in and and we have four outstanding new officers who will begin their terms in January, 2017.
Leading the slate will be our new President-Elect, William F. Martin, currently Head of the Institut für Molekulare Evolution, Heinrich Heine-Universität, Düsseldorf. Many of you know Bill because he has served the Society in several capacities in the past, and is Editor-in-chief of Genome Biology and Evolution. After his one-year term as President-Elect, Bill will serve two more years as President and then Past-President.
David Pollock will be our new Secretary, and he will serve a three-year term. David is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the University of Colorado.
One of our new Councillors will be Joanna Masel. Joanna is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Arizona.
Our other new Councillor will be Jay Storz. Jay is an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Nebraska. Like all of the new officers, Jay will serve a three-year term.
Please join me both in congratulating each of these new officers and in thanking them for their willingness to serve the Society!
